tammy raabe rao

my gear.

I admit that I concentrate on the fun and creative part of photography more than the technical aspects; I suppose I'm a bit lazy. Graphic design is my main focus (ha, haaaa), but I have much more fun with photography!

I shoot with a Canon 20D digital SLR. I also have a EOS Rebel film SLR camera.
Onto these camera bodies go the following lenses:
50mm f/1.4, which is a fabulous portrait and low-light lens
18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM
70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto lens ("the brick")
28-75mm f/2.8 Tamron zoom lens (I love this lens)
10-20mm f/4-5.6 Sigma wide-angle lens

lighting/studio equipment includes two monolights, a reflector and stand, a Giotto tripod with Manfrotto ball head, umbrellas, reflectors, and a light tent. Not pictured: one continuous light.

I have two backdrops: black (fabric) and white (paper). I also have various fabrics that I use to create backgrounds as well. My studio? my small living room. Hey, it's a start.

My carry-around bag is a Lowepro Off-Road. I have stuffed this poor little bag to within an inch of its life.
(this, by the way, is a VERY OLD photo.)

This bag goes with me to photo shoots. I cannot remember what this bag is supposed to carry; I bought it when I got my Digital Rebel. At that time, I had one main lens, a flash, and a couple of accessories. This bag has taken a beating and is still a good little bag.

The front compartment is a catch-all for all the small bits. The main compartments (bottom photo) hold the flash in one side pocket, and either the extra Canon or Tamron lens in the other side pocket. I put the lens hood and cleaning cloth in the center, and then the 20D, with lens attached, facing down.

I like to carry my camera with a lens attached because I am way too heavy-handed and clutzy to be detaching and attaching lenses. This is why I like zoom lenses - portability!
